Antiphospholipid syndrome, a problem for mothers who want to have children

Antiphospholipid syndrome (Antiphospholipid Syndrome: APS) is a type of autoimmune disease. Mothers with this disease are at risk of developing blood clots. This can happen to blood vessels throughout the body. If it happens to a pregnant mother, it can cause complications during pregnancy, such as Preterm birth, pre-eclampsia, placental abnormalities, blood supply to the placenta The fetus grows slowly, causing repeated miscarriages, or it may be severe enough to cause the death of the fetus, etc.

Diagnosis of APS

The diagnosis of APS is based on a history of multiple pregnancies and miscarriages. If it is found that there are repeated miscarriages Your doctor will test your blood to look for antibodies to phospholipids. And when the results from the laboratory are known, further treatment plans can be made.

Treatment of APS in mothers who have had an embryo transfer

In treatment, the anticoagulant drug Aspirin is used together with Heparin. The drug used is Enoxaparin, which is a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) drug. Synthesized from the drug Heparin, used to prevent blood clotting. Studies have shown that it is more effective than Heparin, so it is used among women with a history of repeated miscarriages. To help increase blood flow in the uterus after the embryo transfer process returns to the uterine cavity. This helps increase the success rate of embryo transfer.
