When we have thin endometrium lining, is it possible to have children?

Infertility can be caused by many factors, including the desire to have children at an older age, stress, health problems of the couple, and another major problem that is commonly found among mothers is a thin endometrium lining.

The uterine wall or endometrium is the inner lining of the uterus that supports the implantation of an embryo to achieve pregnancy. In each menstrual cycle, the uterine wall has a different thickness.

The thin endometrium lining, this is when the endometrium is less than 5 millimeters thin, resulting in a decreased chance of pregnancy. Because the thin endometrium lining makes it harder for the embryo to implant, resulting in infertility but still being able to “have children”.

A thin endometrium lining can be caused by several things, including:

  1. Dilatation and Curettage: Because dilatation and curettage cause the uterus to become fibrotic or inflamed.
  2. Abnormal estrogen levels: This may be due to ovarian failure, which prevents estrogen from stimulating the endometrium lining to thicken.
  3. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease: PID
  4. Uterine fibroids: Prevents embryo implantation into the uterine cavity.
  5. Low blood flow in the uterus: It is caused by uterine tumors. This is because blood flows to the tumor more than to the uterus.
  6. Long-term using ovarian stimulating drugs.
  7. Using single hormonal birth control pills.

What type of uterus is suitable for embryo implantation?

The endometrium suitable for embryo implantation should be 8-14 millimeters thick. If the endometrium is thicker than 14 millimeters, it will be difficult for the embryo to implant and there is a risk that the mother has abnormally thickened endometrium. In addition, if the uterine wall is arranged in three layers (Triple Lines) and there are no pathological conditions inside the uterus that affect embryo implantation or pregnancy. It will increase the chance of pregnancy.

The endometrium are arranged in Triple Lines

A thin endometrium lining is not life-threatening because it can be treated, and hormones can be used to thicken the lining of endometrium. However, a thin endometrium lining can affect infertility because the thin endometrium lining makes it more difficult to have a successful natural pregnancy. And must use infertility treatment methods to help increase the chances of pregnancy for mothers.
