Uterine fibroids are abnormal growths of uterine muscle. They can occur either outside the uterine wall or inside the uterine cavity.
Causes of uterine fibroids.
Doctors still cannot find the exact cause. But this tumor causes various abnormal symptoms. Including influencing having children. Uterine tumors are related to the hormone estrogen, which can stimulate the tumor to thicken.
Symptoms of Uterine Fibroids
Symptoms of uterine fibroids depend on their size, and in some patients, there may be no symptoms. Common symptoms include:
- Lower abdominal pain, severe menstrual pain.
- Abnormally heavy menstruation.
- Menstruation lasts longer than 1 week or is abnormally long.
Uterine fibroids and infertility
In cases of uterine fibroids, the tumors may press on the fallopian tubes, affecting the fertilization of the egg and sperm. Uterine tumors may prevent the embryo from implanting in the uterine cavity. Including insufficient blood supply to the uterus, which affects implantation and growth of the embryo.
If I have uterine fibroids, is it possible to have children?
Women with uterine fibroids can have children. They can undergo treatment for the fibroids or use reproductive technology to solve their infertility problems, such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) or ICSI. However, they must be under close medical supervision and should undergo a thorough pre-conception physical examination before having children or beginning the infertility treatment process.
